When it comes to treating acne the first step that you need to take in order to clear it, is to bring the condition under control. If left uncontrolled when you start treatment you may well find that this can lead to other areas of your face becoming affected by it. Today there are hundreds of different products available for treating this condition, but unfortunately not all of them do what they claim. Below we take a look at some of the best acne treatments that are now available.

However, the first thing that you will need to understand is that although these treatments do work they will not provide a cure for you overnight. You may find that the treatment is going to take a few months or years before you see the full benefits of it. Plus you may have to try several different ones before you find one that actually works for you. It is important to remember that the effectiveness of each treatment will vary from person to person.

Now let us take a look at the kinds of acne treatments that you may want to consider using. If you take your time and research each one as much as possible you could end up saving yourself not only money but a lot of heartache as well.

1. Proactiv – Is one of the best acne treatments to be found on the market these days. But rather than it just being one product it is made up of three, which need to be used in conjunction with each other to be truly effective. The treatment consists of a renewing cleanser, a revitalizing toner and a repairing lotion all of which contain prescription grade Benzoyl Peroxide in them. The big advantage of this treatment over some of the others available today is that you do not have to purchase it on a prescription.

2. Accutane – Is a very strong but effective acne treatment that can only be gotten if prescribed by a medical professional. This is normally prescribed to those people by their doctors who suffer from persistent and severe bouts of this skin condition. Unlike Proactiv, which is a topical treatment, with Accutane you will need to take orally and you need to be aware that it can actually cause side effects also.

3. Retin-A – This is another treatment, which can only be provided by a doctor prescribing it. But those who have been prescribed with this acne treatment have found it to be extremely effective. Not only does it treat the acne but it has also been found effective at helping to treat and prevent acne scarring. Although this is mostly prescribed to acne sufferers, there are some over the counter products available that also contain small amounts of this ingredient in them but are not as effective.

Along with the treatments that can be purchased online, over the counter at your local drug store or by your doctor there are others which are just as effective you may want to try. Surf the internet and you will soon discover plenty of sites, which are offering numerous acne treatments that contain only natural ingredients. So the chance of you suffering from any unwanted side effects when using them are greatly reduced.

However if you want to save yourself money and would prefer to not buy one of the acne treatments that we have mentioned above. You could instead, make your own remedies at home. Again, a quick search of the internet and there are plenty of homemade remedies that you may want to consider trying instead.
